Margaret Ann Mullins (but I go by Ann)
Born in 1948 - 64 years old
Born in Chicago, lived there through high school, after that went to college in upstate New York, then lived in Aspen, Utah, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Denver then back to Aspen.
Lived in Aspen in the 70’s, while I was living in Denver from 1984 - 2006 I was a frequent visitor to Aspen, bought a house here in 1996, and spent either winter or summer season here from that time, renting out for the other season. Moved here full time in 2006.
I am a Urban Designer/Landscape Architect, have been for 30 + years, but also currently work part-time for the Ski Company as an instructor at Buttermilk.
Why do I want to be on City Council? We are all in agreement that this is a great place to live, but just living here loving it is not enough to keep the city vital. We need to actively hold on to what we have that makes this city unique and actively work to accommodate positive change that maintains the character and environment of our city. What gives this city its character is its diversity and we continue that diversity through range of housing choices, a variety of lodging opportunities, support of businesses of different types and sizes, varied transportation choices, a diverse built environment, and a healthy and thriving natural environment. These are all pieces of a big complicated puzzle and I would like to help or to lead in putting together that puzzle in order to hold on to the best of what we have and to create a positive future for ourselves and the next generation.
Campaign Statement: The City Government needs a fresh perspective and a renewed vision as we deal with the once again growing pressures of change. With 30 years of urban design and business experience I can see the big picture and can put all the pieces of this complex puzzle together to hold on to the best of what we have and to create a bright future for ourselves and the next generation.
